A Child’s Garden of Jackson Browne It’s a long way Jackson Browne has come – from his whining days at the Paradox in Orange, at the Dom in the Village, and at Troubadour hoots in Hollywood.
“It was like looking at a photograph coming up in a solution,” Browne later told journalist Paul Nelson.
“When I started to see these songs coming up and I began to see the image, it sort of scared me.” Why You Should Listen A Zen twilight-sleep of mortality and regeneration, .
(The hit single “Here Come Those Tears Again” was co-written with Nancy Farnsworth, Major’s mother, before the album was recorded.) Even more poignant are the twin reflections on fatherhood: In “The Only Child,” Browne speaks to his own son (“And remember to be kind/When the pain of another will serve you to remind”) while addressing his own distant father in “Daddy’s Tune” (“I don’t know why it was so hard to talk to you/I guess my anger pulled me through”).
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. JACKSON BROWNE was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.During a career spanning five decades he has written some of the finest songs in popular music. He does indeed put his time, mouth and money to those causes. Also David Lindley who plays on many of Jackson's songs was a musician on Leonard’s first album – Songs Of Leonard Cohen. Secondly, I love David Lindley’s violin and all other ‘string’ instruments he plays on Jackson’s songs. I was of the mind that no one really came close in terms of song writing. The song that sucked me in was Fountain of Sorrow, particularly the first verse and last couple of lines: 'And at the moment that my camera happened to find you, There was just a trace of sorrow in your eyes' I think I'm right in that he hadn't lost his first wife when he released Late for the Sky, but she had died by the time I first heard it (after '76) Thus, the sadness of losing his wife and this album have an association for me.
The following, in no particular order, are favourites of mine. However, I chanced upon Late for the Sky and the songs slowly began to grow on me. Over the years I bought a couple more albums and enjoyed the music, but mostly went back to Lft S.
Browne began singing folk music in his teens and later moved to Greenwich Village in New York City, where he joined the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
